Clinical Governance

Underpinning our complex care service is our Clinical Governance Board. The Board is Chaired by a GP and includes a Clinical Nurse Lead, our Heads of both Compliance and Training and Quality Care and the Managing Director of MyLife Specialist Care.

The function of the Clinical Governance Board is to ensure the safe delivery of clinical support with quality, evidence based, nurse led and nurse managed care. Monthly clinical Key Performance Indicators are completed and escalated to the board to ensure optimum measurement of good current practice and to identify any areas that can be improved upon. The remit is thorough and comprehensive and the process is adhered to at all times.

Initially a comprehensive risk and support assessment is undertaken to identify the level of clinical care that is required by the client. These assessments are carried out by the Clinical Nurse Specialist and a Quality Officer and overseen by the Clinical Lead, all of whom have many years’ experience in both acute services and Health and Social Care within the community.

About our Specialist Care Team

For clients identified as having high level complex needs, a comprehensive New Client Risk Assessment is completed in consultation with the Heads of appropriate departments to ensure we can deliver a robust and safe service. Only after final sign off from the MD will we formally accept the client. A bespoke care plan is then created alongside specific protocols for each nurse and nurse led delegated task.

Our Health Care Assistants are specifically trained and receive ongoing clinical supervision. Part of their Continuous Professional Development is identifying any further training that may enhance their skill set and help support the clients more fully.

Our clients with complex needs have a monthly review carried out by the Clinical Nurse Specialist to ensure that the care they are receiving is of the highest standard, delivered safely and most importantly in the way they want. This continuous high level communication and monitoring is at the root of the care we deliver.
